Since WordPress version 5.0, WordPress provides a block editor which helps users build some awesome website with something called blocks. It makes building website on your own even easier.
*you do not need to install the Gutenberg plugin.
Step 1 Install and activate a theme
A theme is a preset template so that you can start with something to work with, rather than start from a empty website.
From appearances, click on themes and choose add new to find a theme of your liking. As a start, there are 2-3 themes which is very popular, One is Astra theme, second is WPocean theme and third is the Twenty Twenty three theme by WordPress creators. you can look around and choose the theme that you like. After installing the them, you must activate it. Just click activate and you are done.
Step 2 create the most common 4 web pages
The next step is to delete all the pages and create 4 new pages namely home, blog, about us and contact.
To create a page, just click pages and add new, then at the title line key in the word “home” and click publish. do the same for the next 3 pages.
Step 3 setup the home and blog pages
AT the appearance, choose customize and select homepage settings. Then find homepage and click the box below and change it to “home”, similarly find blog and click the box below and change it to “blog”. Now anyone who browse to your site will be directed to your home page “home”.
Step 4 add new posts
Posts are the blog entries or articles in a blog, they are used to express your ideas and views, Now goto posts, and click add new. Then start typing out your ideas and expression. and click publish when done.
The few things to note, every line is a block called text block. adding images just type /image and press enter, then upload a picture, and select it to show a picture. To add youtube video, just type /youtube and you can key in the youtube link and share your youtube video. To draw a saparate line, type in /saparator.
To show headings, type /header and complete the heading text.

Now you can read more on Gutenberg editor and explore more ways to build sites. You could add block pattern like block templates and more blocks from plugins to help you build even more interesting sites.
you can also use starter sites and other plugins to build whole sites so that you can customize to your style.
And if you are in WordPress 6.0, you can build the header as in the top part of the site and the footer which is the bottom of the site with the Full Site Editor (FSE) in the Guterburg editor.
